They are a team of seasoned executives, union officials, works council representatives and employees. Amongst the 20 members, there are ten shareholders and ten employee representatives. The Supervisory Board’s main role is to monitor and advise the E.ON Board of Management, and it is also directly involved in all important decisions about E.ON’s future.
Leonhard Birnbaum, CEO
“E.ON will now launch a comprehensive growth and investment offensive to establish a zero-carbon energy world. In 2030, E.ON will be bigger, greener, more digital, and more diverse.”
Ambitious:
The goals we have set for ourselves
Future-proof:
What we do in our business areas
Our core business comprises two major pillars: energy networks and customer solutions.
Our distribution networks are the backbone of the new energy world. Without distribution networks there can be no energy transition and no climate protection. The expansion, modernization and operation of distribution networks underpins security of supply and ensures that green electricity is used as efficiently as possible. This makes our networks the foundation of livable cities, communities, and regions.
Inter(national):
Where we are active
Because in addition to the “what” and “how”, the “where” is also important, here you have all our German regional companies and our foreign regions at a glance. Just click your way through the map below to find out more about our business in our home market Germany and in Europe.
Appealing:
What our brand stands for
Doing a lot for sustainable and competitive energy and making sure it’s distributed reliably and efficiently is one thing. Communicating it in an interesting way is another.
Across different channels, our brand campaigns make it clear what we are doing to combat climate change, to protect our planet, and for the energy transition.
Our history: Where we come from
If you’re wondering where our name actually comes from: E.ON is a variation on the English word eon, a term from antiquity that originally denoted eternity and now tends to stand for an era. And that’s exactly what we want to shape – a new energy era.
Contrary to what the meaning in the sense of eternity of our name suggests, we have not been around that long, certainly not “forever.” But we do have strong historical roots and can look back on quite a bit that we have already accomplished (and created) in our 20-plus years as E.ON:
E.ON saw the light of day in June 2000 as a result of the merger of VEBA and VIAG – two companies founded in the 1920s as holding companies for state-owned industrial holdings, each with large energy divisions. This was followed in the first years of the new millennium by the transformation of the E.ON Group into a pure energy company. At the end of 2014, the clear strategic focus on the new energy world with renewables, energy networks and customer business took place. Today, E.ON is one of the world’s largest private energy companies and, following the acquisition of innogy, is focusing entirely on energy networks and customer solutions as the central building blocks of a new, sustainable energy world.
