Did you know that prior to the Bosch magneto ignition, there were two options for the process used to ignite the fuel in engines of motor vehicles? One of them was a battery-powered system characterized by a limited range, the other one was a glow-tube system which required an extremely dangerous open flame.

In the future, more and more vehicles will be electrically powered. They will increasingly be connected with other road users and their surroundings, assume more and more of the driving task themselves, and provide personalized services for their occupants. Using our show car, we’re showcasing our technology solutions enabling vehicles to achieve all of that.

SoundSee – our intelligent troubleshooter. 🚀 Since late 2019, the sensor system analyzes sounds and uses artificial intelligence to monitor the condition of machinery aboard the International Space Station. When it detects a problem, it issues a warning, allowing astronauts on board to respond quickly to solve the problem.

Which technology do you think will be the most influential in your country in 10 years?🤔 Let us know in the comments!
As part of our Tech Compass survey, we’ve asked people in 5 different countries around the world this question. The most common answers: artificial intelligence and 5G.

With vehicle software becoming ever more important, automotive suppliers like Bosch have to adapt and are becoming software companies for mobility. That’s why, among other things, we’ve set up a division specifically for automotive electronics and software, employing some 26,000 software engineers. And there’s more: Stefan Hartung, chairman of the Bosch Mobility Solutions business sector, explains as part of our “Thought leaders in dialogue” series, how Bosch is already using the opportunities presented by the fusion of automotive and IT know-how and what there is to come in the future.

By combining artificial intelligence with the Internet of Things, we’re creating the basis for data-driven, continuous improvement in manufacturing. This means that all the data in the wafer fab – from machinery, sensors, and products – is collected in a central database. The result: Every second, production data equivalent to 500 pages of text is generated. This data is then evaluated using methods of artificial intelligence, allowing for manufacturing and maintenance processes to be analyzed in real time.

🏭🌐 Machines that think for themselves, maintenance from a distance of 9,000 kilometers, smart glasses with built-in cameras: The Dresden wafer fab is our first AIoT factory, combining artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the manufacturing process. Sarah Fischbach is a data scientist who, along with her highly skilled colleagues, ensures that the wafer production at the fab in Dresden, Germany, is continuously optimized. Thanks to the data generated by the factory’s systems, sensors, and products and the self-optimizing algorithms, she can analyze the operations in real time without disrupting sensitive manufacturing processes.
