Nasser Al-Khelaifi

Group Chairman 


Nasser Al-Khelaifi is the Group Chairman of beIN MEDIA GROUP, the leading independent sports, entertainment and media group operating in 43 countries around the world.

In forming beIN MEDIA GROUP in 2014, Mr Al-Khelaifi orchestrated the transitioning of Al Jazeera Sport into beIN SPORTS and became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of beIN MEDIA GROUP.

In his roles, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has led a rapid growth strategy to create one of the world’s most successful sports and entertainment brands. The group provides significant investment in grassroots and professional sports all around the world through its unparalleled sports rights portfolio; while also driving original content creation, production and distribution in the entertainment industry.

Mr Al-Khelaifi has overseen the launch of beIN SPORTS MENA, beIN SPORTS France, beIN SPORTS Americas, beIN SPORTS Asia-Pacific, beIN SPORTS Australia and beIN SPORTS Spain, whilst expanding beIN MENA to include movies, general entertainment, factual and kids content. In 2016, Mr Al-Khelaifi also acquired the Hollywood film studio, Miramax, which holds one of the richest portfolios (and pipelines) of international award winning films. More recently, under Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s leadership, beIN MEDIA GROUP acquired the largest Turkish Pay-TV platform Digiturk.

As a result of beIN MEDIA GROUP’s growth and international success, Nasser Al-Khelaifi is considered a visionary leader in the media industry.

Nasser’s rise to the top of the media industry followed a successful career as a professional tennis player, playing in the Davis Cup for Qatar. Nasser Al-Khelaifi then started his TV career in 2003 as Director of Rights Acquisitions of Al Jazeera Sport, when the channel was first launched. In 2008, he was promoted to General Manager of the Qatari-based sports channel and was made chairman of Qatar Sports Investments.

Alongside Mr Al-Khelaifi’s role as Group Chairman of beIN MEDIA GROUP, he is also the President of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Football Club, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF), the Qatar Squash Foundation (QSF) and vice president of the Asian Tennis Federation for West Asia (ATF).

Mr Al-Khelaifi’s years of sport and television experience have led to numerous accolades. In 2016, the French premier footballing magazine, L’Equipe, named him “the most powerful man in French football” and in 2020, he was named the most influential person in football by France Football. In 2019, he was elected by the European Club Association as a delegate at the UEFA Executive Committee, becoming the first leader from Asia to hold a UEFA position.

Beyond media and football, Mr Al-Khelaifi was a former ATP ranked tennis player who played on the international circuit, playing between 1992 and 2002.

 

Yousef Al-Obaidly

Yousef Al-Obaidly is the Group CEO and Board Member of the beIN MEDIA GROUP (“beIN”), the world’s leading independent sports, entertainment and media group operating in more than 40 countries around the globe. As one of the most respected executives in world sport and entertainment, Mr. Al-Obaidly manages the single largest portfolio of sports rights in the world. Under Mr. Al-Obaidly’s leadership, beIN is increasingly a global entertainment powerhouse, not least through beIN’s Hollywood movie studio, MIRAMAX, but also through its new streaming platform, TOD.

Mr. Al-Obaidly has lived and breathed the sports and creative industries for the past two decades. As early as 2003, he played an integral role in the successful launch of Al Jazeera Sport, which would become the most prominent and innovative pay-TV sports network in the Middle East & North Africa. Al Jazeera Sport was later transformed into beIN SPORTS, and Mr. Al-Obaidly kick-started the international expansion of the network by launching new sports channels in France, USA, Canada and 11 countries in Asia-Pacific; setting the tone and template for beIN’s market-leading positions.

Later, in 2022, he oversaw the successful launch of the Group’s new OTT platform, ‘TOD’. TOD is the Official Streaming Partner of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM , and is part of beIN’s vision and strategy for a digital future.

Mr. Al-Obaidly is a board member of beIN Media Group; MIRAMAX; Paris Saint-Germain Football Club; Paris Saint-Germain Handball; Qatar Tennis Federation; Premier Padel; Qatar Sports Investments; Ooredoo Group; and Es’hailSat. As a sports fan and entertainment enthusiast, he is passionate about the protection of intellectual property and ensuring that the creative industries remain a thriving source of entertainment across the globe. Mr. Al-Obaidly is recognised across the world for leading the fight against beoutQ and against illegal piracy generally. In January 2020, SportsPro named Mr. Al-Obaidly as one of only 10 “Influencers in the world of sport” whose work will be setting the global agenda.

Mr. Al-Obaidly is a former professional tennis player, participating in the Davis Cup amongst other major tournaments; and graduated from Seattle University, USA with a Bachelor’s Degree.

 

Tareq Zainal

Chief Financial & Human Resources Officer


Tareq Zainal is the Chief Financial & Human Resources Officer of beIN MEDIA GROUP.

Prior to that, Mr. Zainal was the Executive Director of Human Resources & Financial Affairs.

He previously played a founding role in the launch of Al Jazeera Sport, in 2003, as Head of Financial Affairs, and became in 2008, Director of Human Resources and Acting Director of Financial Affairs at Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), before returning to Al-Jazeera Sport.

He started his career as a Senior Accountant at Qatar National Bank in 2000.

Mr. Zainal also acts as the General Secretary of Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) since 2009.

He has a bachelor degree in Accounting and graduated from Qatar University.

 

Ziad Hammoud

Chief Strategy & Investments Officer


Ziad Hammoud joined beIN MEDIA GROUP in July 2014 after he had worked extensively with the Group and is currently the Chief Strategy & Investments Officer.

After beginning his career at Citi in investment banking in London focusing on mergers & acquisitions as well as capital markets in the emerging markets, Ziad moved to Dubai in 2008 to help found Algebra Capital, an equity and fixed income investment fund raising money internationally and investing in the MENA region. Ziad was a fund manager focusing mainly on equity investments where AUMs reached up to US$1.7 billion.

After the sale of Algebra Capital to the then partner Franklin Templeton, he returned to investment banking at Barclays in Dubai where he was involved in mergers & acquisitions and capital markets for the MENA region, while being in charge of Barclays’ operations in Qatar.

He is a graduate in business and finance from ESCP Europe School of Management in France, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and English.

He is a father of three and he enjoys sports, Aikido and history.

 

Mohammad Al-Subaie

Mohammad Al-Subaie has actively engaged in the launch and development of beIN SPORTS.

He serves as a board member in Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), PSG Football Club, Qatar Tennis Federation, as well as member of Sports Media Committee under Qatar Olympic Committee.

Previously, he joined Al Jazeera Sports as Director of Digital Media in 2013.

He started his career in 2004 as a telecom engineer in Qatar Telecom (now Ooredoo), where he was then appointed as Director of Networks.

Prior to his promotion to CEO of beIN MENA, Al-Subaie expertly led beIN’s commercial division as the Executive Director of Commercial Affairs.

He is a graduate from the University of Washington in Seattle.

 

Mohammed Al Bader

Managing Director of the MENA Channels


A long time and successful veteran of beIN – in August 2020 Mohammed Al-Bader was promoted to Managing Director of the MENA channels at beIN MEDIA GROUP.

He also oversees the beIN SPORTS studios, including decor, set design, as well as the events department.

Mohammed began his career at Al Jazeera Sports in 2005 as Director of Art and Creative Department.

 

Israel Esteban

Chief Technology Officer


Before being appointed to Chief Technology Officer in August 2020, Israel was the Executive Director of Technology at beIN MEDIA GROUP.

Prior to that, Israel initially worked on the launch of beIN SPORTS France in 2012 as a consulting Project Director.

Previously, he was Chief Technology Officer and Head of Office HQ at S.I. Unitecnic in Barcelona.

He began his career at S.I.Unitecnic in 2000 and, after one year working as DSNG operator for major events like the French Elections, he became part of the Engineering department.

His previous positions include Project Director for Belgacom Media Studio in Belgium, as well as for ESPN Sur in Argentina and Canal Sur, TVE, La Sexta and Gol Television in Spain, among others.

He is a graduate of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC – Barcelona) where he studied Telecommunications Engineering.

 

Daniel Markham

Daniel Markham joined beIN MEDIA GROUP in July 2014 as Senior Vice President of Content Strategy – leading beIN’s global content acquisition group – while also being appointed as Managing Director of beIN UK.

In February 2020, Daniel was promoted to Chief of Staff, Special Advisor to the Chairman and CEO, while also continuing his role as Managing Director of beIN UK.

Daniel previously served at the National Basketball Association, as Senior Vice President, Media Distribution and Managing Director for emerging markets in EMEA. He also served as the NBA’s joint head of the region.

Prior to the NBA, and after a year-long secondment to Cricket Australia, where he served as the General Manager of Media Rights and Strategy, Daniel spent four years at IMG Media in Hong Kong. He was deputy head of the Asia Pacific region.

In 2004, Daniel served as Vice President for business development and strategy at Octagon CSI.

Daniel started his career at the English Football Association (The FA) and held the position of Head of Broadcast and Media.

 

Caroline Guenneteau

Deputy General Counsel


Caroline Guenneteau is beIN MEDIA GROUP’s Deputy General Counsel since January 2021, after serving as the Legal Director in Competition Law for beIN MEDIA GROUP since 2017 and the Legal Director of beIN SPORTS France since the channel launched in 2012. A leading voice in sports law and anti-piracy in sports broadcasting, Caroline Guenneteau and her department were awarded with the Silver Award for ‘Best European Legal Department’ from the International Legal Alliance Awards in 2017, and the Gold Award for ‘Best Legal Department’ in 2016 and in 2020 from Trophées du Droit.

Before joining beIN SPORTS, Caroline Guenneteau was a judge at the Nanterre Commercial Court; as well as previously working for French broadcaster Canal+ as a Legal Director.

 

Richard Verow

Chief Sports Officer

and Managing Director – beIN UK


Richard Verow is beIN MEDIA GROUP’s Chief Sports Officer & Managing Director of beIN UK. He joined the global media group in February 2020 from Sky Sports, where Mr Verow held the position of Commercial Director since 2012 – overseeing major negotiations with the Premier League, the International Cricket Council, Formula 1, UEFA, England Cricket, England Rugby, the NFL, the NBA and more. Richard Verow is now responsible for beIN’s unrivalled global sports acquisitions and distribution portfolio.

Prior to his work for major broadcasters, Richard Verow was a senior commercial lawyer for the International Cricket Council; Senior Counsel for UEFA; and has played a major role in other leading organisations in entertainment, media and sport over the past two decades.
