Deutsche Telekom

Telecommunications · Germany · 217,000 Employees

Founded in 1995, Deutsche Telekom AG is a Germany-based integrated telecommunications provider, offering its customers around the world a portfolio of services.

Deutsche Telekom is one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications companies, with some 248 million mobile customers, 26 million fixed-network lines, and 22 million broadband lines.

We provide fixed-network/broadband, mobile communications, Internet, and IPTV products and services for consumers, and information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for business and corporate customers.

Deutsche Telekom is present in more than 50 countries. With a staff of some 216,500 (Dec 31, 2021) employees throughout the world, we generated revenue of 108,8 billion Euros in the 2021 financial year.

Today, we are developing from a classic telephone company into a service company of a completely new type: the software company that sells telecommunications services. Because only a Telekom that is digitalised in all areas can continue the successful path of the past years. With our presence in Europe and the USA, we are ideally positioned for this. We want to become the leading digital telco. The core business, i.e. the operation and sale of networks and connections, will remain the basis.

T-Systems offers a range of integrated solutions for business customers, including the secure operation of legacy systems and classic IT services, the transformation to cloud-based services (including tailored infrastructure, platforms and software) as well as new business models and digitisation projects for the business fields of the future, such as data analytics, the Internet of Things andartificial intelligence.

T-Systems is thus driving the digital transformation of companies in all industries and the public sector. The focus industries include automotive, manufacturing, logistics and transport, as well as healthcare and the public sector.

T-Systems can provide all this thanks to its global reach in fixed-network and mobile communications, its highly secure data centers, a comprehensive cloud ecosystem built around standardized platforms and global partnerships, and the ability to offer top levels of security and sovereignty.

Deutsche Telekom AG is a German telecommunications company that is headquartered in Bonn and is the largest telecommunications provider in Europe by revenue. Deutsche Telekom was formed in 1995 .

Integrated networks for the Gigabit society

Telekom wants to make its contribution to ensuring that every household and every company in Germany has a fibre-optic connection by 2030. The first stage goal remains ten million Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connections by the end of 2024. To achieve this, we are expanding more than any other telecommunications company in Germany. Every day.

The main arteries of the Telekom network have long been made of fibre. With more than 650,000 kilometres, it is the largest network of its kind in Europe. More than 3.6 million households in Germany can now book a gigabit-capable connection in the Telekom network. We supply eight out of ten households in Germany with bandwidths of up to 100 megabits per second (MBit/s). This is more than 34 million households. 27.4 million households can book a tariff with up to 250 MBit/s.

New standards in mobile communications

Telekom is also ahead in mobile communications and offers its customers outstanding network quality. This is reflected in numerous victories in various network tests. More than 34,000 locations are currently using the Telekom network. In addition, we put more than 1,500 new locations into operation every year. In addition, LTE and 5G expansions are being carried out at thousands of existing locations.

As part of our massive expansion activities, 5G is becoming the new standard in the mobile network. Today, our network already covers more than 92 percent of households in Germany with 5G. Household coverage with LTE is around 99 per cent nationwide.

Our achievements are recognised

Throughout the year, renowned expert tests and reader surveys take place, which we have recently been able to win sovereignly, including Fokus Money, CHIP, connect, Computer Bild and Umlaut. Our TV offer “MagentaTV” received the rating “outstanding” in the Connect test. Connect readers saw us at the top in seven categories in 2020, including best fixed network provider and best mobile network provider.

Magenta TV: Television in a new dimension

Our approximately 5 million customers appreciate our IPTV offer “MagentaTV”. Every day they enjoy the far more than 100 TV channels, the significant streaming services and an impressive megatheque. Even for those interested without a Telekom Internet connection, we offer a low-cost entry into our TV world with MagentaTV Flex for only ten euros a month. With the broadcasting rights for the upcoming European and World Championships in football, we are putting another exclamation mark on sports coverage.

Sales & Service

We have bundled our sales and service business and can now coordinate all steps of the customer journey even more closely. With a high degree of professionalism and empathy, 30,000 colleagues in 14 regional centres, in 1,000 Telekom and partner shops as well as in the field take care of the concerns of our private and business customers. This gives us 90 million personal customer contacts a year. Our service technicians alone complete 30,000 appointments daily.

Our customer service is TÜV-certified and has won many awards: in 2020, we won the Grand Slam of hotline tests, among others: The trade magazines connect and CHIP each certified us as having the best hotlines among mobile and fixed network providers. FOCUS MONEY also declared us the “Service King” in its big Germany test.
